Most Likely Score

10/01/2023

Good grief! Another short putt. I can't win this hole so I'm picking up.

"You can do that under certain circumstances," says the USGA, "but don't forget to record a 'most likely score' on your scorecard." Some golfers will move on to the next hole without keeping score if they figure they've lost the hole while playing for skins or in a match-play round. To ensure your handicap index is accurate, i.e., proving your demonstrated ability, you need to record the actual number of strokes you made PLUS one or more based on distance from the hole. Remember, you can't input more strokes than your double-net bogey score.
